My story begins like every other day in a small village. I believe the year was 496. I remember the day quite well. The sun was shinning beautiful rays of light as the people talked and worked throughout the day. I remember the kids laughing and having fun playing with each other. I also remember helping my mother out. She had asked me to help with chores around the house. She was always hard working…. I think. My memory has changed too much to tell, but I’m quite sure she was a wonderful women.
She had beautiful and I mean the pretties shade of black hair, just like a raven’s feathers glistening threw the air. Whenever I saw her hair move it was like the gods themselves were praising her. I also remember her pink cheeks that turned red when someone teased her. It could’ve have been about her beauty or something that made her shy, well I guess that was most things that made her shy. But I swear there was nothing ,and I mean nothing my mother wouldn’t protect. Whatever she believed or loved. She protected it with her life.
Now you may be wondering why I’m not talking about my father. Well I was told my father died before I was born. He had happened to get a sickness that made him unwell ,but at the time my dad was sent to war. Which he had sadly died in. But I was told about all the adventures my dad and mom had. In fact that’s my parents fall in love adventuring all around the world. Amazing isn’t? Fate works in many ways even ways people don’t know about.
But I guess fate has to be cruel. I mean that’s the way of the world isn’t, bad things must happen to restore the balance. And this day happened to start my adventure……..
I woke up to loud sounds. I heard people screaming and yelling. The first thing I did was run to check on my mother. But what I saw frightened me. She was dying right there on the floor. I ran to her side with tears running down my face.
“Sweetie….run into the forest and don’t look back….understood?!” ,my mother said as her life started to drift away in front of my eyes.
“Y…es…m…om!” ,I said as couldn’t keep my voice straight.
“Oh…..dear one m…..ore thin….g. I…Io…ve…y-.” Her eyes closed with tears running down her face. She was never going to see her daughter’s face again. But that’s not the thing that sadden her the most. It was the fact she could never see her beloved daughter grow into a beautiful girl.
“MOM! WAKE UP! MOM! MOM!” ,I said as I shook her body. Hoping for a response from her cold but warm body.
I knew deep down there was nothing I could do. My only option was to run into the forest and hope the fates would leave me in no harm. As I started running I ran past many dead people. I stopped. Something wasn’t t right. I looked towards the fires. Some of the fires were green or blue or any other colors. The blue fires seemed to give off an ocean smell. Why the green fires gave off a fresh grass smell, like flowers in the fields we ran through.
“Why are you still here, child?” I swiftly turned around to see no one behind me. “Am I making it up? I thought someone was talking to me.” ,I thought to myself as I kept turning around.
“That’s because someone is talking to you. Child, I am in front of you. You just need to let your eyes see me.” I look up to see a crisping flame. The color was like a sunrise. They had blended beautiful together to make it.
“Are you the one talking to me? Or am I just crazy?” ,I said as I reached out to touch the crisping flame.
“Yes you are both, in a way I guess. I just was wondering why you’re here.”
“Quick I hear someone talking!” ,said the voices as they got louder towards my way.
I didn’t waste another second there. I felt bad for not answering the flame’s question ,but my mother wanted me to live. As I was running bare foot I heard the voices catching up to me. Just a mere moment before I reached the forest. They saw me.
I ran, and ran until I was deep in the forest. The elders had told stories about the forest. One of them was that about a man with an axe. He had came and chopped down wood every day in the forest. Until one day he didn’t come back. Some say the forest was mad at him for stealing their wood. Others say that he just was fed up with living here. But I think the reason the man just didn’t come back was ,because maybe he found the beauty in it all.
But as the scenery was quite a site. It was also a very dangerous place to journey, especially when you’re a kid with no way of defending themselves. There has always been monsters with big yellow teeth and furry skin. While if you were lucky not to get them chasing you. You could’ve been chased by a pack of wild wolves or any other type of wild animal.
And that’s just my LUCK!!! As I stopped to catch my breath against and old Yew tree. I heard loud stomping noises coming from behind me. They got louder and louder as they approached me. I looked behind me to see a Behemoth. The Behemoth was about 150 to 200 feet tall. His eyes looked red and irritated. While he had big scaly scales all over him. They were covered in dirt and moss. But his scent was even worst. He smelled like every worst smell I could think of. But…..that didn’t mean he wasn’t fast.
Out of fright I started running. He was close on my tail until I caught a glimpse of a cave. Without a second thought I turned and started to run towards the cave. The cave had pleasing look. It was magical. It was like it was out of a dream or a book. The cave also had the most unique obsidian flowers in the world. It was like the sky at night. But while it had the appealing flowers it also had weird looking glowing mushrooms that were colors I haven’ t even seen.
As I ran into the big cave the monster was too big and tall to catch me. As I got further in I stopped and catch my breath. I was sweating and my hands and feet were soaked with dirt and scratches. I was also covered in ash. Thankfully it was a warm night so I wasn’t cold. But that didn’t mean I wasn’t shaking. I was scared and alone in a place I didn’t know.
At that point I decided to head further in the cave. It didn’t look dangerous from the outside ,so maybe it was safe to head deeper. Plus, if I were to go outside I could put myself in more trouble. So the cave it is!
I walked and walked and walked for what seemed like months maybe years at most. Of course that much time didn’t past but it seemed like it. As I walked more I saw a pictures of mythical creature and people with glowing hands? The wore such weird clothes. Clothes I’ve never seen in our village. The more I walked the more pictures I saw. It was like a story was being told. There was a beautiful girl that looked like she was an early teen. But she looked like she was a good person. About a few more minutes of walking I saw writing. It didn’t look like our language, but strangely enough I was able to make out some of the words. Which read “Beware Dan Drag?”
“That’s weird! Why write something like this.” ,I thought as I continued onwards.
As I continued walking it began to get colder and colder. But as my luck was turning I started becoming hungry. I guess all the running I did was making me hungry. I stopped and took a break. I was cold, hungering, and tired. My body was aching. I decided it would be best if I were to stop and rest for awhile. Maybe it would also be a good idea to think on what I’m going to do next.
But as I was thinking my eyes began to become heavy for me to hold up and stay awake. Then I started to doze off. My mind was in a daze. The at moment everything was becoming a blur. As the crisp weather was getting to me the next thing I knew I was on a cold rocky, floor.
“I fell asleep didn’t I?” I thought as my eyes woke up in dream. “I might as well enjoy this dream while I’m here.” I thought as I looked around.
